S4T Quickstart

If you don't know where to start, and you are building a Mini-ITX motherboard in a S4T, we recommend the  HDPLEX 250w GaN. Please check out specific build guides for parts lists, or email us for help!

The Power that is Supplied

Your typical PC power supply (ATX, SFX, SFX-L, Flex-ATX, TFX, etc) is a box that converts AC voltage from your wall into DC voltage used by your PC components.

Since we live in the future, there are some "micro" power supplies that perform both these functions, such as the HDPLEX 250w GaN and it's 500w bigger brother

However most non-standard (We'll refer to them as "micro" power supplies) are split into two parts, the AC-DC part (which converts the electricity from your wall to DC) and the the DC-DC part which converts the source DC (usually 12v or 19v) into the multiple voltages required by modern PC components.

For a quick and clear rundown with some examples, please watch a bit of this video:

We can get fancier and use PCB options to reduce the cable clutter as well with products like this:

That's all for now...more later once I find more than 24 hours in the day.
